Diagnostic Blood Test:
Lp-PLA2 Activity
Lipoprotein-associated phospholipase-A2 is a novel biomarker of cardiovascular risk. LP-PLA2 is indicative of microvascular dysfunction and atherosclerotic plaque development. Often associated with diabetic states, LP-PLA2 participates in the local oxidation of LDL particles within vessel walls contributing to the pathogenesis of cardiovascular disease and metabolic syndrome.
